Packaging firm takes 108,000 sq ft in Widnes

Logicor has secured a 10-year lease at Liberty Park with an international packaging company, understood to be Intertape Polymer Group.

The Widnes 108 shed totals 107,222 sq ft of speculatively built business space which the new occupier will use to produce sustainable packaging in support of a growing e-commerce customer base.

The deal means that the Platform portfolio, a 4.25m sq ft collection of assets that Logicor assumed management of in October 2020, is now fully let.

Tom Blakely, director, asset management UK for Logicor, said: “This is an exciting new addition to our UK portfolio with a customer leading the way in sustainable packaging, and we are very pleased to welcome them.

“As the last unit to let in this portfolio, we are now focusing on the available land nearby in Widnes and Lichfield which present ideally located build-to-suit development opportunities.”

In April, Logicor, along with development manager Stoford, secured planning permission for up to 360,000 sq ft of new industrial and warehouse facilities at the neighbouring Widnes 360 site, offering flexible options from 50,000 sq ft upwards.

Widnes 108 was originally promoted by Prologis as part of Liberty Park, within the 3MG multimodal estate.

The building was taken on by European warehousing business Logicor following the acquisition of Prologis’s UK logistics estate by Logicor shareholder Blackstone for £473m in October 2020.

A spokesperson for the tenant said: “We are excited to grow our global footprint in the UK with a modern facility to serve our international customers with innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.

“Logicor has been a delight to work with in this fast-track project demonstrating flexibility & creativity to design scalable building solutions to meet our business needs”.

IPG is headquartered in Montreal, Canada and Sarasota, Folrida. It works from 31 locations globally

DTRE and Avison Young are retained as letting agents at Widnes 360.
