October start for Hyde church conversion
Manchester-based developer Nook & Key has been granted planning permission for a residential development within a grade two-listed former church and its grounds in Hyde.
St Stephen’s in Flowery Fields will be converted into sixteen luxury one- and two-bedroom apartments within the church, while nine three-bedroom and five four-bedroom family homes will be built on the adjacent site. Millson Associates is the architect.
St Stephen’s previously sat empty for five years before Nook & Key acquired the site. Now, after gaining listed building consent and full planning permission from Tameside Council, work on site is due to commence later this month.
Nook & Key has also secured £2.5m from the Greater Manchester Housing Fund.
