NOMA targets 2018 completion for Hanover
Russells Construction has been appointed to deliver the £34m Hanover office refurbishment on NOMA’s Corporation Street, a 110,000 sq ft project initially intended for completion in 2016.
The 109,000 sq ft building is being stripped back and remodelled, creating 91,000 sq ft of offices and 18,000 sq ft of retail and leisure. Situated in Corporation Street next to the recently completed Federation refurbishment, the former warehouse overlooks Sadler’s Yard and Pilcrow Pub.
Hanover was first launched to market in 2015, with completion on the refurbishment scheduled for 2016. However, a fire broke out in the building in October 2015, damaging the sixth floor and roof, and the project was put on hold.
Contractor Wates Construction was previously involved in the scheme, delivering enabling works at the time of the fire.
Hanover has been vacant for a number of years, and was part of the historic estate occupied by The Co-op before its move to One Angel Square.
Due to the listed nature of the property, the refurb design incorporates historic features, such as the very fine glazed tiles in the stairwells and the coffered plastered ceilings. The extensive terracotta façade will be cleaned and repaired.
Hanover is part of the £800m NOMA neighbourhood, being delivered in a joint venture between The Co-op and Hermes Investment Management.
Hanover is due for completion by August 2018. JLL is the agent for Hanover.
