University Hospital Aintree plans energy framework

Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking companies for the maintenance of a combined heat and power unit at University Hospital Aintree.

Combined heat and power units, also known as cogeneration plants, generate both electricity and heat for buildings, as a form of energy recycling.

The trust wants to establish a five-year framework agreement with a company that can oversee maintenance of its heat and power unit, which was taken over by the trust in December last year.

The trust said that the estimated value of purchases for the entire duration of the framework agreement is £200,000.

Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises two main hospitals serving the residents of north Liverpool, south Sefton and Kirkby.

University Hospital Aintree is a large teaching hospital providing accident and emergency services. Walton Hospital is the other hospital run by the trust.

Deadline for submitting tenders is 12pm on Friday 25 June.
