University brings accommodation project to market

Bangor University is seeking a development partner to build and operate a 600-bed hall of residence.

The accommodation would reinstate the St Mary's site in Lon Pobty which the university vacated several years following its merger with a teacher training college based there.

The new hall is scheduled to be ready by September 2015. The university said it has not formally decided the contract structure and is open to suggestions. However, at present it envisages being the landlord to the students and retaining the right to nominate rooms and to directly contract with the students. The length of the management contract is predicted to be 32 years.

Interested parties are invited to attend a bidder open day on 15 March 2013.
