Smyth’s signs up at Warrington retail park

The toy retailer will open a store at Junction Nine Retail Park in Warrington later this year after taking a 10-year lease on the site’s former Halfords unit.

Smyth’s has taken 14,500 sq ft making it the 19th retailer to sign up at the site, alongside other occupiers including Currys PC World, Dreams, Dunelm, Hobbycraft, Home Bargains, KFC, Mothercare, Nandos, TUI, and Starbucks.

The toy retailer has signed a 10-year lease with the park’s owner Derwent and will open its new store in the autumn.

The retained agents for the park are Petch & Co and Curson Sowerby Partners. Junction Nine totals around 188,000 sq ft of retail space with a further 55,000 sq ft under development; the park underwent a £9m refurbishment programme in 2017.

James Maule-Finch, senior asset manager for The Derwent Group said: “This is the second letting with Smyths Toys across the group’s portfolio, and we’re delighted to welcome them to Junction Nine.

“Our retailers enjoy a very prominent position on one of the longest retail park frontages in the UK and Smyths is a fantastic brand to add to that line-up.”
