Sheila Bird boss advises dental group

Manchester-based interior designer Atul Bansal has joined dentistry corporation Barrow Kwong Hing Group as creative consultant in the UK and North America.

In addition, BKH appointed David Laws of Matthews & Goodman Property Advisors. Matthews & Goodman will provide strategic advice on the group's UK operational requirements and is currently undertaking a study of sites in the North West to accommodate a training academy and centre of excellence amounting to 30,000 to 50,000 sq ft of accommodation.

Bansal will act as creative manager on a consultancy basis in the UK, as well as for BKH's North American operations, Maritime Dental Group.

The recently established corporation currently has seven dental practices in the UK, and is on schedule to open a further 30 across the country over the next two years.

The Manchester-based company, founded by Chris Barrow and Dr Alan Kwong Hing, establishes partnerships with dental professionals to provide support, finance and management services to individuals who are seeking to either open their own practice, or who need help to grow a current business.

Kwong Hing said: "When we first met Atul, there was an enthusiasm and mischievousness that attracted us to seek projects to collaborate on in both the UK and globally.

"I felt that someone of Atul's ability should not be limited to the UK and that there was a depth to him that would work well with our North American market, so much so that he is even helping me with a personal project of developing a vinery in Napa California."

Bansal, co-founder of Sheila Bird, said: "The roll out will see each space focusing on the patient journey and experience as BKH recognises that patients want a welcoming and engaging space to create a home-from-home environment to relax and feel comfortable in.

"I will oversee the design and project management of all the partner practices to ensure they underpin the group's ethos and culture, while maintaining an individual character."

Kwong Hing has 22 years' experience of private dental practice, founding Maritime Dental Group in Canada. Chris Barrow has been active as a consultant, trainer and coach to the UK dental profession for over 15 years, creating The Dental Business School in 1997.
