Contractor Russells is to begin a two-year construction programme later this month on the next project at Bruntwood and Select Property Group’s £750m Circle Square development in Manchester.
The scheme includes an 18-storey building with a 1,100-space car park from ground to the 11th floor, and a 150-bed hotel between the 12th and 17th floors. There is also commercial, retail, and restaurant space at ground floor and mezzanine level.
Russells was appointed as main contractor for the project, designed by architect Feilden Clegg Bradley, last summer.
According to planning documents, will start on site on 15 January, following completion of demolition and clearance works by subcontractor Thompsons of Prudhoe. Armstrong House and the Mancunian Way spur on the site have already been cleared.
Site preparation and substructure works will run until April, after which a tower crane will be erected to stand at the site for 50 weeks.
Completion is scheduled for January 2020.
Russells is the third main contractor to work on the £750m development, alongside Wates, which is on-site at Vita Student, and John Sisk & Son, which started on the first two commercial buildings last November.
The 14 and 17-storey offices, totalling 400,000 sq ft, are due to be completed in early 2020.
