Morgan Ashurst wins £37m schools job

Morgan Ashurst, part of the privately owned Morgan Sindall group, has been selected by Liverpool City Council for the contract to replace two high schools and a sixth form college under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

The company will deliver new facilities for Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School for Boys on Honey's Green Lane and Broughton Hall High School for Girls on Yew Tree Lane. There will also be a new sixth form centre shared between the new schools, which will bridge across Monastery Road.

The sixth form centre will total nearly 30,000 sq ft, the Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School for Boys will be 80,000 sq ft and Broughton Hall High School 60,000 sq ft.

Design work for the scheme was carried out by EK Architects. Joint venture company 2020 Liverpool provided technical advice and project management services to Liverpool City Council.

The work is scheduled for completion in September 2012.
