Lovell gets approval on £40m Cumbria scheme

The housebuilder has been granted planning permission on a 217-home scheme in Cockermouth in Allerdale.

The development is known as The Laureates and will include a mix of mews, semi-detached and detached homes, with 88 affordable properties.

The scheme will also see extensive landscaping, with communal play spaces, a meadow, native hedgerows and tree planting.

Nigel Yates, regional director for Lovell in the North West, said: "The Laureates will meet the needs of a variety of purchasers from first time buyers to growing families. We've planned the development carefully to ensure it is an extension of the existing community while providing local people with the opportunity to buy a newly built home in the town."

Building work is due to start imminently and the homes are expected to go on sale in spring 2015. The development was designed by Ainsley Gommon Architects.
