Plans for a 10-storey student accommodation scheme totalling 266 bedrooms have been put forward to Liverpool City Council, on a site that has already seen two earlier approved applications fail to be implemented.
Applicant Kenworth Investments acquired the cleared 0.4-acre site at Oldham Place at the end of last year.
Previous owner Oldham Place Ltd had been granted planning permission in 2015 for a six-storey building on the plot, made up of 117 studio flats. The company was then dissolved later that year.
A scheme approved in 2012 also failed to materialise for 122 studio rooms, proposed by Bentley Properties which then went into liquidation.
Kenworth has submitted a proposal to Liverpool City Council to revise the application approved in 2015, to change the mix from just studios to include cluster flats.
Alongside, the company has also put in plans for an entirely fresh scheme, made up of 83 studio rooms and 64 cluster flats.
Iceni Projects is the planner advising Kenworth. According to documents submitted with the application, changes to the student accommodation market mean that studio flats are no longer as popular, and a mix of different kinds of rooms would make the scheme more viable.
