Haulier plans housing on surplus land

HOW Planning has submitted an outline planning application for 161 units on S Cooper & Son's headquarters site in Winsford.

The project will help support the long-term future of the Cheshire-based haulage company as it plans a reinvestment programme using the capital raised from the residential development.

The application has been submitted in outline with all matters reserved except for means of access following extensive discussions with Cheshire West & Chester Council.

The family owned haulage company aims to inject the capital raised from the development of the land back into the business and is looking to relocate to new premises locally, seeking to protect existing jobs.

Richard Barton, associate at HOW Planning, said: "Planning permission for the site would make it a very attractive proposition which will also significantly contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the area."
