Exhibition Centre Liverpool images unveiled

New artists impressions of Liverpool's waterfront exhibition centre and upscale hotel have been released.

The £40m exhibition centre will be directly connected to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, via a covered bridge link.

International construction company ISG – responsible for the construction of the London 2012 Velodrome – was appointed last October to deliver the scheme.

Denton Corker Marshall, who designed the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, was appointed as architect in December.Exhibition Centre Liverpool

Exhibition Centre Liverpool will provide an additional 90,00 sq ft of flexible and accessible event space which will be sub-divisible into three exhibition halls, each 30,000 sq ft in size.

The facility will include an integrated 200-room hotel, with the brand due to be announced next month.

Preliminary works are due to start on site this spring, with completion due in 2015.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, said: "We are working closely with Liverpool City Council and ISG to develop a strong visual identity for Exhibition Centre Liverpool which complements, but is distinctive from, the existing arena and convention centre.

"We are confident that the development will link the waterfront heritage with modern Liverpool's reputation as a thriving business community. Exhibition Centre Liverpool will bring an international exhibition venue to a world landmark site."

An Arena, Conference Centre and Exhibition Centre side by side on the Waterfront straddled by the Albert Dock and Liverpool Marina. Other cities would kill for something like this.
