Calderpeel hires Bennett from Pozzoni

Calderpeel Architects, which has offices in Altrincham, has appointed Tony Bennett as a non-executive director to develop its commercial team.

Bennett will work in a full-time capacity at Calderpeel, but is not part of the executive management team.

He has been at Pozzoni for seven years, and is a specialist in the production and processing sector, and the masterplanning of industrial and logistics estates. He has worked on projects for Unilever, PZ Cussons and ERF Trucks.

Bennett was formerly founder and managing director of Bennetts Architects, which went into administration in 2009 after 15 years in Manchester.

Ewen Miller, managing director of Calderpeel, said: “Commercial and industrial is a growing sector for the practice. We’re working on more projects as confidence and investment continues to return to the market. Tony’s unrivalled experience will help us create and convert new opportunities and deliver outstanding work for clients.”

Bennett said: “Calderpeel is a practice with a dynamic management team and fresh ideas. We are working on some exciting new opportunities and we are already working on a new facility for North West Logistics, a North West-based national and European wide distribution company. I am looking forward to helping the practice further develop its industrial and commercial expertise.”

Calderpeel’s previous commercial work includes new-build office schemes, office refurbishment, fit-out projects, and industrial buildings in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and North Wales.

Its current workload includes the 70,000 sq ft headquarters for Derbyshire Police & Fire Service and a 40,000 sq ft extension and refurbishment for Smart Storage at Broadheath, Altrincham.

The practice’s other specialisms include luxury residential, superhomes, leisure, care and projects for the emergency services.

This looks like an ideal match for both parties. I am sure that Calderpeel’s only regret will be that they didn’t get Tony Bennett earlier.
