Network Space plots 100,000 sq ft Warrington industrial

Following on from its recent purchase of part of the former Manchester College campus in Openshaw, the developer has acquired almost five acres off Winwick Road from the National Grid.

Network Space is now preparing a planning application for a 100,000 sq ft multi-let industrial development that could create around 200 jobs.

The scheme will be funded through a 30-month secured £9.2m loan facility from Warrington Council, which is to be signed off next week.

Work on the project, located a mile from junction 9 of the M62 north of Warrington town centre, could begin next year, subject to planning approval.

Joe Burnett, development director at Network Space, said: “The acquisition provides a great opportunity to deliver a variety of multi-let, new build space.

“With a shortage of light industrial space in the area, it will appeal to a range of local, regional and national occupiers seeking small and mid-box urban logistics, alongside traditional multi-let users.”

B8RE acted for Network Space, Savills acted for National Grid.

As well as its projects in Warrington and Openshaw, other pipeline schemes being progressed by Network Space include the redevelopment of the former Cartwright trailer manufacturing site in Altrincham into 192,000 sq ft of industrial space, Glass Futures in St Helens, and the refurbishment and modernisation of the former Sovereign Distillery in Huyton.
