Mount Street office refurb granted

Fore Partnership has been given planning permission by Manchester City Council to redevelop 24 Mount Street into office space.
The developer will partially demolish and rebuild the site into 78,000 sq ft of offices, with retail and leisure space, a roof terrace and improvements to the public realm.
The site, formerly known as London Scottish House, is next to the Midland Hotel and Manchester Central convention centre.
The architect is TP Bennett. Fore said it will start on site in October on a 15-month build programme. Kier is the main contractor.
Deloitte provided planning advice. Knight Frank and Lambert Smith Hampton are acting as joint agents for 24 Mount Street.

Yo homes has been refused but the DWP building on Tooting Broadway is being built next to the Midland. Strange idea of aesthetics at MCC.

Yo Homes wasn’t refused on aesthetics – appears to be more to do with people living within a weird temporary fold up box concept, than the external appearance of the building. Its next to Chips for god’s sake!

Nothing wrong with Chips. At least it has a personality. The building next to the Midland is boring and dated. This would be fine in Hulme, but this is near the best buildings in the city.
