Morris Homes picked for £80m East Lancs Paper Mill regen

Joint land owners Bury Council and Homes England have selected the Wilmslow-based housebuilder to redevelop the 22-acre Radcliffe site.

Morris Homes will deliver an £80m regeneration project at East Lancs Paper Mill, Bury’s largest brownfield redevelopment opportunity, over the next eight years.

Outline planning consent for up to 400 homes on the site was secured in December 2018.

East Lancs Paper Mill also features within Radcliffe’s strategic regeneration framework, drawn up by Deloitte Real Estate and Planit-IE and adopted by the council last September.

The procurement process for the scheme was carried out by Bury Council and Homes England, which own around 7.3 and 14.6 acres of the paper mill site respectively.

Morris Homes is also vying to acquire the 10-acre Ryebank Fields in Chorlton from Manchester Metropolitan University. The firm is one of four shortlisted for the chance to redevelop the site.

The company is redeveloping the former Linotype Works on the Bridgewater Canal in Broadheath.
