More images revealed of 26-acre Trafford resort

Further details of the 28-acre wellbeing resort planned on the site of EventCity in Trafford have been revealed following the submission of the planning application last month.

The tropical-themed, warm water resort, initially set to open by early 2022, will cover a site on Barton Dock Road, between Phoenix Way, Mercury Way and the Bridgewater Canal, is currently home to EventCity, which is set to relocate into the building occupied by Soccerdome.

Therme Manchester is being developed in partnership with Peel L&P. Therme is advised by WSP | Indigo, Exterior Architecture, TTHC and BWB Consulting.

Proposals include a 700,000 sq ft resort building, a 43,000 sq ft public square, a 38,000 sq ft lake and up to 1,500 car parking spaces.

Shame its not going to Eastlands / Etihad instead of a new arena…could incorporate the gasometer as a unique feature

Surely time to call an ‘indoor water park’ an ‘indoor water park’. Can a ‘resort ‘be called a ‘resort’ without there being anywhere to stay?

By UnaPlanner

Looks impressive.. Although, I’ll believe it when I see it.

This is excellent, will be a major tourist attraction

By Dan

I know I am being a party poo per .
But !!
What of the AIR POLLUTION for people living in nearby homes.
Citizens in Stretford, Urmston, Sale,Old Trafford.
Their elderly, babies and children are suffering ill heath due to air pollution now.

This looks very impressive and will attract people from all over the North of England which will obviously put a strain on the transport system in the area especially when United are at home. The soon to open metro line is welcome but a train station linking into existing lines would be a great addition. Peel should get their hands in their pockets to make a significant contribution to help this happen.

This looks excellent – there is nothing else like this in the UK. This will be an unbelievable leisure offering for the North and will obviously create new jobs / a big boost to the leisure / tourism sector in the North west.

Looks like a cheap place to take the kids for a day out!!

By Artie

Will there be a hotel in it?

Do we REALLY need such a monstrosity in Trafford?? Roads around that area are congested enough, really feel sorry for the residents around that area, hopefully developers are going to also build a 4way highway,as we also have a new Aldi & Starbucks drivethro due to.open Spring 2020 @ the retail park. Why on earth is it going to consist of a Lake in Trafford!???? may as well go down the road to Sale Water Park!!!!!!!

By Sylvia Pilgrim

Sorry to be cynical but this is just the latest in a long line of Peel planning ruses. There is no way this is financially viable at this location that would justify such a huge investment, at least certainly not on such a grand scale.

This is nothing more than a ruse to get a change in land use to facilitate the end goal which will most likely be residential or similar or conning more money out of the public purse to fund public infrastructure.

Don’t believe the hype!

By Peel watch

This is no different to:

Liverpool Waters
Wirral Waters
Port Salford
Horwich Golf Club
Trafford Incinerator
Trafford Waters
Trafford ‘Museum of Museums’
Trafford ‘Ship Canal Musuem’

and many other schemes that are nothing other than a fancy CGI to persuade governemnt to fund their infrastructure or to change land use by stealth.

By Peel cynic

Is it peel watch or peel cynic? Just one name and stick with it

By Dan

Wish Peel would get the message, we don’t like to be duped. They’ll pay 10 fold for the loss of good will.

By Liverpolitan

@PeelWatch and Cynic…appreciate what you are saying but it is Therme who are bringing this forward who already have successful spas in other countries.

If this happens i will eat my hat.
