Momentum Group to deliver Liverpool esports venue

Known as Level Tap, the 6,500 sq ft video gaming hotspot will be located off Hanover Street in Liverpool ONE when it opens in May.

Level Tap is the creation of Callum Wilson and Adam Rydings. The Liverpool ONE location will be the brand’s debut venue and the first of its kind in the city.

Level Tap has chosen The Momentum Group for the fit-out and delivery of the K2 Architects-designed venue. Momentum Group co-founder Chris Renshaw praised the esports concept.

“Level Tap is at the vanguard, not only in the city but also in the UK, by bringing a dedicated esports venue with food and drink to the high street,” Renshaw said.

“We are excited to have been appointed to deliver this project and help Level Tap on its way to what we are sure will be a successful addition to the city’s scene.”

When it opens, Level Tap will have two levels filled with video game console stations, racing simulators, and 20 computers. A mezzanine area will broadcast esports competitions and games.

The lower level will boast a 100-capacity arena, bar, lounge, and dining area.

Hospitality expert Lucky Penny Group is designing the food and drink menu for Level Tap and has teased that it will include a variety of gaming-themed cocktails.

Steven Burgess, managing director of Lucky Penny Group, described the food and beverage offering accordingly: “There will be an engaging food menu working alongside a legendary local brand in American Pizza Slice, which is the perfect partner for gaming, while the drinks menu is stacked with fun and high-quality cocktails featuring wonders such as Belle’s Bathwater, Mia Martini and AFKZombie.”

Level Tap’s Wilson explained why he wanted to work with Momentum Group and Lucky Penny on the venue.

“This is our debut venue and it’s vital for us to have the right people with the right experience alongside us to ensure we hit the ground running; glitch-free,” he said.

“The experience, attention to detail, local knowledge, and flexible approach that they are bringing is exactly what we need for this project.”

In addition to Level Tap, Momentum Group is busy delivering another Liverpool ONE leisure venue – the £10m Gravity, which will include areas for e-karting, bowling, and urban golf. Read more about Gravity.
