MIPIM: It’s the return of the Golden Age for Allied London
Developer Allied London has outlined plans to turn the ITV Granada site into "the first city centre residential neighbourhood", as part of a speech given by chief executive Michael Ingall at MIPIM on Thursday 13 March.
Ingall was enthusiastic about the next phase for Manchester city centre which he said heralded "the return of the Golden Age". He outlined plans for the upcoming development of the ITV Granada site in Manchester city centre, to be known as St John's Quarter, which was purchased by Allied London in partnership with Manchester City Council.
Ingall's presentation majored on concept designs submitted by Ian Simpson Architects. The process of selecting architects as part of the masterplan is said to still be ongoing.
The designs feature a number of high-rise residential towers, as well as a mix of retail and residential units at street level.
As part of his speech to MIPIM, Ingall also revealed a potential January 2015 start date for the 343,000 sq ft Number One Spinningfields development.
A spokesperson for Allied London said that the developer was in talks with "a range of parties" over funding for the scheme, with pre-let options and public sector funding being considered.
Discussions are understood to be ongoing with EY and PwC.
