MCC/Salford University to discuss new building scheme
Manchester City Council is holding a free seminar at the end of October, discussing a new scheme aimed at improving the cost, quality in use, risk, and timeliness of the delivery of projects by construction companies.
The council is considering introducing Building Information Modelling on their £500m Building Schools for the Future programmes, with assistance from University of Salford.
BIM is already proving popular amongst Governments within Denmark, Finland, Norway, Singapore and in America.
The introduction of the scheme means many people and organisations will be re-educated and re-skilled including:
- Architects
- Project managers
- Procurement managers
- Manufacturers and supply chains
Guest speakers at the event include John Lorimer, capital programme director at Manchester City Council, and Bob Owen, senior research fellow at Salford Centre for Research & Innovation.
- The event is scheduled for Thursday 30 October at CUBE in Manchester. Call Pat Davies on 0161 295 5076 to register.
