‘Luxury’ South Liverpool flats given nod
Davos Property Developments, owned by Home Bargains billionaire founder Tom Morris, has recieved approval for its first scheme outside of the city centre, a high-end apartment complex off Ibbotson Lane in Sefton Park.
Liverpool City Council’s planning committee voted this morning to approve the application for the residential project east of Sefton Park, which has been designed by Falconer Chester Hall.
Davos’ scheme would comprise a three-storey building featuring 17 three-bed apartments that the project team says are aimed at downsizers.
“Our client understands the South Liverpool market and immediately saw the potential to bring something special to the area, complementing other recent developments,” said FCH associate director Martin Haymes.
“The homes will offer the same luxury lifestyles as the area’s original mansions, but with a pleasing contemporary interpretation. For people downsizing, there’s the added benefit of sufficient bedrooms to welcome grand-children and Sefton, Greenbank and Otterspool parks for them to enjoy, too.”
The site is currently occupied in part by an abandoned property constructed in the early part of the 20th century, which is due to be demolished to make way for the 35,000 sq ft high-end scheme.
Davos describes the project as “one of the most luxurious developments in the city”. The area, located between Lark Lane and Allerton Road, has previously been home to former Liverpool managers Jurgen Klopp and Gerard Houllier.
Richard Gee, director at planning consultant Roman Summer Associates, said: “It’s a very sustainable location and we benefitted from clear guidance from the city council’s planning officers with regards to everything from space standards to landscape design and amenity space.
“There’s an identified need for larger three-bed homes in the area and this scheme makes a useful contribution to the city’s housing targets.”
Sally Bower, Focus Transport, Roger Hannah, MNP, Adapt Heritage, and Pennine Ecology also advised on the scheme. To learn more, search for planning reference number 25F/1000 on Liverpool City Council’s planning portal.
At the same meeting, the city council’s planning committee voted to approve amendments to a previously consented residential scheme at Stonedale Crescent. Contractor Lovell Partnerships, working for Colbalt Housing, sought permission to install curtain walling to the stairwell.

A good looking scheme in a highly desirable area, it looks attractive, modern, and a change from the off the shelf stuff many of the big builders come up with. Davos have done a great job with their block of apartments in Bridgewater St in the Baltic, and looking forward to 118-126 Duke St starting to take shape once the current structural repairs are completed.

How lucky is Liverpool to have the Morris family? Godspeed.

Looked at the agenda for this Tuesday’s Planning Committee, woefully thin and little new applications of note coming through at the moment on the planning forum. There is a fair amount of stuff backlogged, with some of it held up by Gateway2 , but we still aren’t attracting the big hitting investors and developers.
