Liberty lodges plans for £15m Manchester care home

Yew Tree Nursing and Residential Care Home in Wythenshawe will be demolished and replaced with a new-build 59-bedroom facility.

Liberty Care Developments has submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council seeking consent to redevelop a site on the corner of Yew Tree Lane and Willenhall Road.

The existing building on the plot has capacity for 43 residents but is “tired and outdated”, according to a planning statement by Avison Young.

Liberty’s plans for a 33,000 sq ft modern replacement have been designed by CSquared Architects and would feature a café, hair and beauty salon, and a garden room.

The care home will provide 24-hour specialist dementia, nursing and residential care for residents.

The application for Liberty’s Manchester project follows the approval of a 72-bedroom facility in Stockport in June.
