LFC in consultation on Anfield Road revamp

Liverpool Football Club has distributed more than 5,000 leaflets to Anfield residents, inviting them to attend the first stage of public consultation on the proposed expansion of its Anfield Road End stand.

The project is seen as bringing the stand into line with the rest of Anfield, which was expanded from a capacity of around 45,000 to the current 54,074 by the extension of the Main Stand, a project completed in 2016.

A second tier was added to the Anfield Road stand in 1998, but it remains inferior to the rest of the stadium and the obvious area for improvement. The club secured a consent in 2014 to expand it by around 4,500 seats, but has allowed that permission to lapse as it gears up for something more expansive yet.

Consultation events will take place at Anfield between 29 November and 4 December, as follows:

The Kop Bar, Kop Stand (entrance via Walton Breck Road):

  • Friday 29 November, 4pm – 8pm
  • Monday 2 December, 4pm – 8pm
  • Tuesday 3 December, 12pm – 4pm

Alternatively, at a pop-up information stand at Anfield Road on:

  • Saturday 30 November, 12pm – 3pm (prior to Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion)
  • Wednesday 4 December, 5pm – 8pm (prior to Liverpool vs Everton)

An online hub will be launched on the club website in line with the consultation sessions, allowing residents, local businesses and fans to view the proposals and offer feedback.

Need a stadium down by the docks

I enjoy flying my kite in Stanley Park and any development of the stand will alter the local wind direction. How do I object?

Might be a good idea to attach a banner to your kite and if the prevailing wind is right fly it close to the ground?

Think God might have some input into your wind objection; but I hear he is a Red anyway………so good luck with that one!

There is plenty of wind by the docks and a nice football pitch sized area that looks like it might be vacant for some time.
