Legacie completes long-awaited 300-apartment Salford tower
The developer picked up the stalled scheme in 2021 almost two years after work ground to a halt and is now preparing to welcome the first residents to the sold-out development.
Comprising 301 flats over 15- and 35-storey elements, Embankment Exchange is Legacie’s tallest ever development.
As well as a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, the scheme features a large foyer that connects the two buildings, as well as two levels of underground parking.
Amenities within Embankment Exchange include a spa with indoor pool, a residents lounge, work from home booths, and a gym.
Mike Rider, construction director at Legacie, said: “The completion of Embankment Exchange is a significant milestone for Legacie, marking our first technical skyscraper.
“This development reinforces our investment in Salford’s thriving residential market, delivering high-quality homes with exceptional amenities. We are proud to contribute to the regeneration of Greengate.”
All of the flats were sold via sales agent RW Invest. Falconer Chester Hall designed the development.
Mike Gore, director at Falconer Chester Hall, explained the rationale behind the design.
“From the outset, our aim was to create a striking and elegant architectural statement that takes full advantage of the riverside setting and spectacular views across the Irwell,” he said.
“Working closely with Legacie, we’ve delivered a high-quality façade using carefully selected materials that enhance the building’s contemporary aesthetic. It’s fantastic to see this scheme come to completion after years of hard work, providing generous, high-specification homes that complement the character of Greengate and contribute to the area’s ongoing transformation.”
The scheme, located in Salford’s Greengate district, has been a long time in the making. The £85m development was previously being developed by Elliot Group as The Residence.
Work on the project stalled in February 2020 and Legacie stepped in to buy the site out of administration in 2021 for £12m, pipping a consortium of the project’s original investors, as revealed by Place North West.

Must admit, always thought this was a scheme by Jeffrey Bell Architects. Obviously not.
Looks decent and good to see it finished.

Another day another skyscraper albeit at 35 storeys a wee one. Still, Greengate is turning into a nice counterpoint for Gt Jackson St. it would be even better if the almost mythical One Heritage is ever built but people have died holding their breath for that one.

I’m wondering how long it will be before service fees are quadrupled?
