Latest Ardwick PBSA proposals emerge
Barlowood Holdings is seeking to redevelop the site of Renshaw House off Hyde Grove in Manchester and create a 92-bed scheme.
The developer’s plan is to significantly increase the number of student beds on the site. The existing buildings, which would be demolished under the proposals, provide 28 units that are of “low quality”, according to a planning statement prepared by Iceni.
In their place, Barlowood would develop a four- to six-storey building providing 14 cluster flats and three studios.
The development, designed by GWP Architecture, would also offer 1,700 sq ft of shared amenity space.
E3P, TPM Landscape, Eddisons, and Burrows Graham are also advising on the scheme.
Mia James, owned by Barlowood director James Barlow, is the project manager.
To learn more about the scheme, search for reference number 140060/FO/2024 on Manchester City Council’s planning portal.
The site is located in an area that has seen several student schemes come forward in recent months. To the south is Empiric’s Victoria Point which could grow by more than 300 units under recently submitted plans. To the north is WUKPG’s Plymouth Grove, a 263-bed scheme.

With more appropriate fenestration, this could actually be a decent looking scheme.
