Kingsway lures CCTV supplier

Rochdale-based tech manufacturer Wireless CCTV is to spend £2.5m on a new 12,000 sq ft facility at Wilson Bowden’s Kingsway Business Park.

WCCTV provides portable CCTV and surveillance systems and works with transport companies, utilities and housebuilders, to protect materials, workforces and premises.

The land for the development was purchased directly in a freehold deal with Wilson Bowden. WCCTV was unrepresented. The main contractor for the project is Tolent.

Construction is due to start in the next few weeks and WCCTV is expected to move to Kingsway during the fourth quarter of 2015. The company is currently based in Mitchell Hey Place, College Road, which it has outgrown.

The new Kingsway facility will provide WCCTV with office, manufacturing and warehouse space. As well as equipping the company with room to develop its portfolio of overt and covert security technologies, the purpose-built premises will also incorporate an inspiring product demonstration suite.

James Thornhill, finance director, said: “This is a particularly exciting time for everyone at WCCTV. In addition to investing in new premises, we have designated some £350,000 for new product development. For example, we are about to launch a new high-definition, body-worn video device that will offer greater levels of evidence gathering to security and police forces. The device will be manufactured here in Rochdale.

“With excellent transport links thanks to its close proximity to Junction 21 of the M62 motorway, Kingsway Business Park was the obvious choice for our relocation.”

Steve Rumbelow, Rochdale Council’s chief executive, said: “We are really keen to support the expansion of local businesses and are in the great position of being able to offer growing companies the opportunity to develop new premises that exactly meet their requirements, both now and into the future.”

Robert Grafton, development director of developer Wilson Bowden, added: “We are really pleased to have concluded the deal with WCCTV and their new headquarters will soon start taking shape on one of the more prominent sites on the business park. This marks the start of a new phase of development at Kingsway and we look forward to welcoming another manufacturing company to the park.”

Kingsway comprises 420 acres of development land. Letting agents are JLL, P3 and Colliers International.
