Kellogg’s confirms 500,000 sq ft warehouse deal
The Kellogg company has confirmed its 525,000 sq ft warehouse letting at Bericote’s 525 Haydock, thought to be the region’s largest speculative industrial unit.
The cereal and snacks giant agreed the multimillion-pound deal earlier this month and plans to occupy the property from 1 April.
The warehouse in St Helen’s will be the company’s biggest in the UK and serve as a base to distribute its brands including Corn Flakes, Coco Pops and Pringles across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
Kellogg’s already has factories in Manchester and Wrexham and a UK head office in Salford’s MediaCity.
The 91-acre site, developed by Bericote with funding from US investor Hillwood, is located on the A580 East Lancashire Road 1.5 miles west of Junction 23 of the M6.
The site is adjacent to the Haydock Industrial Estate in St Helens, and the new Liverpool2 deepwater port is 16 miles to the west.
CBRE, DTRE and Avison Young acted as agents on the deal.
The Kellogg’s facility is anticipated to create 70 jobs in the St Helens area in addition to the 1,500 people already employed by the company in the North West and North Wales.
Chris Silcock, head of Kellogg’s in the UK, said: “We’ve been proud to call the North West of England home since 1938 and, with all our British operations stretching from Manchester into North Wales, this move shows our renewed commitment to the region.
“It’s great to be able to open a base in St Helens and expand into the Liverpool City-Region in support of our broader business’s growth ambition.”
Good news. If Langtree can get the first phase of Parkside through the Secretary of State then what lingering unemployment there remains in St Helens will be dealt a very welcome blow.

St Helens is a dismal place. I am glad I don`t have to live there.

That’s about 5,000 million billion cornflakes. Makes you wonder.

I would have done this in 1997 on the old GEC site at the back of the Manchester Factory but I was instructed to await the outcome of the European Warehouse study which never came….

Why are Kellogg’s building a warehouse there? Why do Kellogg’s still make cereals in Manchester? Their (Kellogg’s) carbon footprint must be appalling – docks to Manchester/ Wrexham, to warehouse to distributor.

Heswall. …..I agree

Local residents call this area Helldock due to the grid lock that has been caused by these speculative warehouses. Luckily for you Heswall you don’t have to live there or put up with the amateurish local council.
