JV starts work on Norris Green project

Construction work has started on the first phase of a £200m regeneration scheme in Norris Green, north Liverpool.

The work is being delivered through a joint venture formed in 2007 between Liverpool City Council and Manchester-based regeneration specialist Inpartnership, known as the Inliverpool limited liability partnership.

The JV was established to assist the local authority with its regeneration strategy for Liverpool.

Inliverpool is a proposed 15 year partnership that in the first instance will regenerate the former Boot Estate in Norris Green in six phases, covering approximately 63 acres in total.

Countryside Properties, a development partner of Inliverpool, has moved on site to construct the first 60 homes of the 170 properties to be built within the 11-acre first phase, after £2.2m was secured from the Homes & Communities Agency.

Of the 60 homes under construction, 15 properties will be for sale on the open market, 25 will be rented, and 20 will be available through home share offers with social landlord Cobalt.

Cllr Joe Anderson, leader of Liverpool City Council, said: "The regeneration of Norris Green is a key strategic priority for Liverpool and the region.

"Improving social housing is an absolute priority for us and this work is yet another example of how we can work effectively with partners to provide good quality, affordable housing for the people who need it most."

Peter Vella, of Countryside Properties, added that the show home is due to open in May.
