Irwin Mitchell appoints planning and environment partner

Keith Davidson, the former Greater Manchester environment commissioner, has joined the law firm from Mills & Reeve, where he was the head of environment.

Davidson brings nearly 30 years of experience to the role of partner in Irwin Mitchell’s planning and environment team in Manchester. In addition to being an environment commissioner with the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, he was also head of environment at LexisNexis, a partner at Pannone, and the founder of ELM Law.

In his new role, Davidson will be charged with growing Irwin Mitchell’s business regarding ESG and sustainability.

He will be working alongside Claire Petricca-Riding, Irwin Mitchell’s national head of planning and environment to create a net zero support service to aid with climate contracting, supply chain collaboration, and carbon literacy training.

“I’m delighted to join forces with Claire and her team and excited about creating the new net zero hub to help accelerate climate action,” Davidson said.

Petricca-Riding commented: “There is an urgent need for all companies in the UK to take climate action in the next five years.

“We plan to offer useful net zero legal products and services that stand out from our competitors. I can’t wait to start working with Keith on these exciting new initiatives.”

Adrian Barlow, director of property legal services, welcomed Davidson to the practice.

“Keith will play an important part in helping us to fulfil Irwin Mitchell’s ambitions in this field.”

Irwin Mitchell has steadily been growing is planning and environment team, which now comprises 14 members. Among those are two additions from last year: partner Pamela Chesterman and senior associate Jill Crawford.
