Inquiry date set for Altair CPO
The Planning Inspectorate has confirmed it will hold an inquiry in to Trafford Council's Compulsory Purchase Order required to pave the way for Nikal's £100m Altair development in Altrincham.
Trafford Council made the CPO on 31 December 2009 to acquire two main buildings; the Bridge Inn and a tyre garage owned by ATS Euromaster. Both the Bridge Inn owner, developer-investor Petros, and ATS are objecting to the CPO.
The proposed six-acre development was designed by Ian Simpson Architects and will include 31 homes, 90,000 sq ft of offices, 70,000 sq ft of retail, both food and non-food, and a 125-bed hotel.
The scheme is being brought forward through the joint venture partnership between Trafford Council and developers Nikal.
Nick Gerrard, Trafford Council's corporate director for economic growth and prosperity, said: "I am pleased we now have a date for this inquiry as this means we are one step closer to being able to secure key parts of this scheme and a hugely exciting development for Altrincham."
The inquiry is to take place on Tuesday 28 June 2011 at Trafford Town Hall and is expected to last for two days. A decision would be expected by September this year.
