Icon lines up next Airport City unit
A month after submitting a reserved matters application for a 102,500 sq ft warehouse at Airport City, Icon Industrial has put in an application to build a further 138,300 sq ft unit “to meet occupational demand”.
Icon, a joint venture between Stoford and TPG Real Estate, is delivering a £100m logistics park at Manchester Airport, with outline planning consent for around 1m sq ft.
Last month Icon submitted a planning application for the 105,000 sq ft Unit 4 at the site. The latest application is for Unit 3, while Units 1 and 2 have already been delivered and are occupied by DHL and Amazon.
Icon Manchester is also set to house The Hut Group’s logistics and global content creation studio, which in the first phase will see the development of a 168,000 sq ft warehouse and 104,000 sq ft of offices over four floors.
Dan Gallagher, joint managing director of Stoford Developments, said: “We have seen significant recent demand from potential occupiers keen to relocate to Icon Manchester Airport. It has led to us submitting two planning applications for major new developments at Units 3 and 4 of the scheme in recent weeks.
“This is a unique and exciting scheme with a strong list of existing occupiers and unrivalled airport connectivity in a key strategic location. Icon Manchester Airport presents potential occupiers with an excellent opportunity to have a unit built to their specific requirements and continues the fulfillment of the Airport City masterplan.”
The architect for Unit 3 is Webb Gray, and the planner is GVA How.
Icon Industrial’s retained agents are CBRE, JLL and DTRE.
