Hallmark acquires site of scrapped EasyHotel in Blackpool
Once the subject of proposals for a 103-bedroom hotel, the Promenade site will become a car park while the firm draws up plans for its redevelopment.
Hallmark Developments has acquired the site from EasyHotel, whose plans to build a budget hotel were approved in 2019 but never got off the ground.
The five-storey building was designed by Axiom Architects and included a ground-floor restaurant. Of the 103 bedrooms proposed, 30 would have no windows.
The hotel plan became unviable around 2021 following the partial construction of the steel frame due to “its small size and the inflationary pressure during and post-Covid”, according to a planning statement prepared by Paul Butler Associates.
EasyHotel put the site up for sale with a £500,000 price tag earlier this year; significantly less than the £650,000 the company paid for the plot in 2019.
Hallmark has applied to use the plot as a 55-space car park for the next three years while the company works up plans for its redevelopment.

So – yet another Zombie Car Park/Land Banking until nearly 2028 – do we REALLY think this will get off the ground after then?
