Goldcrest places Wigan police station site on the market
Goldcrest Land has hired Knight Frank to market a former police station in central Wigan for sale as a development opportunity with planning permission for more than 250 apartments.
John Broadbent, head of residential development at the Manchester office of Knight Frank, said Goldcrest would consider either selling the freehold of the 1.5-acre site or forming a joint venture.
The plot in the heart of Wigan has outline planning permission for 253 apartments and circa 8,000 sq ft of commercial space.
Redevelopment of the police station forms part of the wider regeneration of the Lancashire town, where 5,000 homes are to be built in the next five years.
Knight Frank is currently marketing 660 residential units in Wigan including the development of the police station.
Broadbent added: "This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in breathing new life into the heart of Wigan. We anticipate a very high level of interest from leading developers."
