Go-ahead for Countryside and Investar
A 450-home proposal in Partington and apartments in Stretford are to proceed after they received consent from Trafford Council.
Countryside, which completed a land deal with Peel L&P in 2018 for two parcels of land abutting the Manchester Ship Canal, secured full consent for 151 homes on a 10-acre site that formerly housed a caravan park, also obtaining reserved matters approval for the larger site, which is to house 298 houses on around 30 acres.
The breakdown of the reserved matters consent is for 55 two-bedroom, 196 three-bedroom and 47 four-bedroom dwellings.
Outline consent was granted in September 2019 for this site, with conditions attached including the introduction of a mini-roundabout at the junction to the site, open space commitments, and a payment of £384,000 to highways improvements.
Investar’s plans for the Botanical Gardens site close to the Old Trafford cricket ground were revealed in summer 2020, and have been designed by Tim Groom Architects.
The plans include the redevelopment of one of the Victorian villas on site into 3,600 sq ft of offices, with the other buildings demolished, making way for two apartment buildings, of six storeys and 11-13 storeys.
The site is next to the 15-storey Oakland House office building, and the taller apartment block at the rear of the site will back onto the White City retail park.
