Gleeson pitches major Sutton Manor plans
The developer has revealed proposals for 161 homes off Chapel Lane in St Helens.
Brochures have been distributed around the area outlining the plans, which feature a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bed homes, 49 of which will be affordable across a range of tenures.
A children’s play area and access to nearby woodlands would be incorporated into the plans.
At least 10% of the properties would be open market homes, equating to 16 houses.
The site was removed from the Green Belt following the adoption of the St Helens Local Plan in July 2022.
Gleeson states the project would invest more than £7m in new affordable housing.
The developer has stated that 562 jobs would be created during the construction phase of the scheme, and six apprenticeships would be offered to young residents.
Gareth Roberts, regional managing director, Gleeson, said: “We anticipate that this development will deliver approximately 160 much-needed homes to the area. Following the submission of our planning application, we will be actively working with St Helens Council through the planning process in the hope of securing the necessary approvals.
“At Gleeson, our mission goes beyond building homes; we aim to create vibrant communities where people truly love to live.
“We hope this development will contribute to tackling the national housing crisis by delivering high-quality, energy-efficient, and affordable homes to those who need them most.”
An application has yet to be submitted to St Helens Council.
