Fletcher Rae brings in Hitchmough as director
Having left BDP last year, experienced architect Mike Hitchmough has joined Fletcher Rae to support the practice’s growth.
Hitchmough spent a decade as a director at BDP, working on high profile schemes including Outpost’s 42-storey Greengate co-living tower, and the masterplan for Preston’s station quarter.
As a director at Fletcher Rae, he will help the firm deepen its client pool and expand its sectoral reach.
Andrew Rae, chairman of Horizon Architecture Group, which owns Fletcher Rae, said Hitchmough’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the business.
“We have ambitious plans for growth over the next few years,” he said.
“He brings a wealth of experience that will enable us to build on our ever-growing broad sector profile and completed projects portfolio”.
Fletcher Rae’s current projects include Eckersley Mill and Berkeley Square for Heaton Group and the refurbishment of the Hammerstone Road depot for Manchester City Council.
Hitchmough joins Fletcher Rae’s 25-strong Manchester team, becoming one of five directors alongside Rae, John Clarke, Ben Battye, and Daniel Lesser.
“I’ve known Andrew Rae for a number of years and our values are well-aligned,” Hitchmough said.
“Fletcher Rae has a strong reputation for technical delivery and project execution. My role will be to help build on that foundation by further strengthening the practice’s design culture, broadening our client base and helping to reinforce the practice’s position as a trusted partner across all stages of project delivery.”
