Flats and supported living homes planned for Liverpool

A 74-apartment block in Garston and a supported living scheme on the site of the Boughtons Bedroom Design factory are expected to be approved by Liverpool’s planning committee next week.

The 74 flats would be contained within three residential blocks on the corner of Speke Road and Church Road.

The units would be a mix of one- and two- bedroom flats, under the plans submitted by applicant Knightsbridge, whose director is listed as Mark Robinson.

Six retail units facing Speke Road are also proposed, according to the planning documents.

The 30,000 sq ft site was formerly occupied by Garston Baths and Public Wash House.

Landor is consulting on planning and architect Keith Davidson Partnership has drawn up the designs.

Meanwhile, an outline application submitted by Boughtons’ owner Kenny Boughton seeks approval for a supported living development on the corner of Grafton Street and Harlow Street south of the city centre.

The scheme, which has been recommended for approval by councillors, would see the demolition of the firm’s Liverpool showroom. Boughtons has another showroom in Chester.

An earlier application for a six-storey building containing 29 apartments was amended after the council said the proposal was unlikely to be supported due to several missing details, according to the documents.

An outline application with all matters reserved has subsequently been submitted. It does not specify how many units are to be included in the revised scheme.

Liverpool-based Strado Architecture, formerly Denovo Design, is the architect for the scheme.
