FEC completes 37-storey Manchester tower
Crown View is the final building to be handed over at Victoria Riverside, which is part of the £4bn Victoria North masterplan.
Far East Consortium’s in-house contractor DEX Construction took over the building of the 37-storey, 292-home Crown View last year after the developer parted ways with CR Construction.
The completion of the scheme, the tallest element of Victoria Riverside off Dantzic Street, follows that of the 26-storey Park View and the 18-storey City View last year. Together, the three towers and a lower rise element called Bromley Street, comprise 634 homes.
Residents have begun moving into Crown View this month, a little less than five years since construction began. Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the project offers homes for open market sale. Found, FEC’s property management arm, will manage the scheme.
Crown View features many of the amenities you would expect to find in a modern city centre apartment complex including co-working space, a residents’ lounge and bar, gym and yoga studio, private dining facilities, and landscaped podium gardens. A short distance away, residents can enjoy St Catherine’s Wood, the first phase of a wider 113-acre planned City River Park, which opened recently.
Hilary Brett, development director at FEC, said: “Crown View is a striking addition to Manchester’s skyline, but what excites me most is what it represents on the ground. The completion of Victoria Riverside marks an important step in Red Bank’s transformation, with a growing community, new homes and the surrounding park and green spaces helping to create a vibrant new neighbourhood.”
The completion of Victoria Riverside marks a key milestone in the creation of Victoria North, a 380-acre new town on the edge of Manchester.
Over the next 20 years, seven neighbourhoods totalling 15,000 homes are planned. Of these, 5,500 will come forward at Red Bank, one of the seven neighbourhoods.
Councillor Gavin White, executive member for housing and development at Manchester City Council, said: “Victoria Riverside is a marker of the vision we have for the wider Red Bank neighbourhood – an area bringing together a visually striking new development, high-quality homes, affordable tenures and brilliant green spaces – not least the newly open St Catherine’s Wood park.
“Together these are the building blocks of successful and sustainable communities – and something we want to replicate throughout the Victoria North regeneration area in the coming years.”
