Energi looks to add solar at Fylde site
In plans now lodged with the local authority, Energi Generation wants to co-locate a 13MW ground-mounted solar farm east of Peel Road with an already approved battery energy storage system.
Enzygo is working with the applicant on the project, with the site sitting just outside of Blackpool.
In its planning, design & access statement, the advisor said that the project could “further grow Fylde’s and the UK’s much-needed renewable energy portfolio, thereby reducing the nation’s dependency on fossil fuels, enhancing energy security and reducing the UK’s carbon emissions”.

Should approval ensue, the intention is that the solar farm and BESS will work in tandem, with the energy generated from the PV panels stored within the battery system and then released during peak demand, enabling a consistent and reliable supply of electricity generated from a renewable source.
Planning permission is sought for a period of 40 years from the date of first exportation of electricity onto the grid. The solar farm will then be decommissioned and the land brought back into agricultural use at the end of the 40-year lifespan.
Consent for the BESS was granted conditionally in September 2023. Energi as a business has been working in solar since 2006, and has a team that have worked on more than 200 solar projects combined.
The proposals for the solar farm can be seen on Fylde Council’s planning portal with the reference 25/0113.
