Dantzic completes at NOMA
The refurbishment of the grade two-listed building in Manchester to create 45,000 sq ft of offices has completed two months ahead of schedule.
Contractor Russells has reached practical completion on the scheme, which sits on the corner of Dantzic Street, overlooking Sadler’s Yard. It also sits near Hanover House, which will be the location of Amazon’s central Manchester office.
The project, delivered for Hermes Investment Management and MEPC, has seen Russells remove the building’s outer façade to take it back to its original brick, while internally, suspended ceilings have been removed and original features have been exposed and restored. The building offers 45,000 sq ft over seven floors, including ground, as well as two basement levels.
Stephen Bradley, senior asset manager at Hermes, said: “We have invested significantly in the listed estate at NOMA, helping preserve Manchester’s built heritage for future generations while ensuring the buildings are suitable for the workforce of today and tomorrow. With loft-style office space that has proven popular in cities worldwide, we anticipate strong interest in Dantzic.”
Nearby, the Redfern Building is also being converted in 60,000 sq ft of offices in a scheme also delivered by Russells, and designed by architect Sheppard Robson. This secured planning consent earlier this year, and construction is now under way.
Elsewhere at NOMA, plans have also been put forward for a new-build 200,000 sq ft office at 4 Angel Square. Subject to planning permission, the 11-storey building is set to begin in around 12 months’ time.
Colliers and JLL are the retained agent for NOMA. Workman undertake property and project management across the estate.
