Council to decide on 570 Preston homes

Planning officers have recommended 570 houses for either full or reserved matters approval at Preston City Council’s next planning committee meeting on Wednesday 9 July.

In Broughton, plans by developer Charles Church on behalf of local resident Andrew Forrest to build 118 homes off D’Urton Lane are expected to be signed-off, despite an objection from Broughton Council which says that no new development should be permitted in the village until the Broughton Bypass is in place.

The scheme would be made up of three- and four-bedroom mews, semi-detached and detached houses, on a 12-acre site currently used as a paddock.
PWA Planning advised Charles Church on the application.

Meanwhile, the council is also set to give consent to a reserved matters application from Story Homes at Cottam Hall.

The application is for the construction of 283 homes on land between Hoyles Lane and Sidgreaves Lane. The scheme would include 70 two-bedroom, 88 three-bedroom, 118 four-bedroom and seven five-bedroom houses, 85 of which would be affordable.

The development is on part of the 150-acre Cottam Hall site which has outline planning permission for 1,100 homes. Story Homes is working alongside the Homes & Communities Agency on the project.

In Fulwood, Redrow Homes has submitted plans for 168 homes on land north of Lightfoot Lane. The 16-acre site could accommodate 20 one-bedroom apartments, 28 two-bedroom terrace and semi-detached houses, 42 three-bedroom houses and 78 four-bedroom houses.

The plot sits within a larger site which already benefits from outline planning consent.
