Cottam Hall masterplan on view

The Homes & Communities Agency is holding a series of community consultation events about plans for the Cottam Hall residential area in Preston, Lancashire.

Over 1,000 new homes have been built on the 313-acre site since 1990 and the HCA is looking to develop the next phase of construction.

A masterplan shows proposals to bring a further 1,300 new homes to the area and new community facilities on the remaining 90 acres.

The HCA is hosting three community consultation events to get input on the design and delivery of this next element of the scheme.

The consultations will take place at the following times and venues:

  • Tuesday 2 November, 8.45am-1pm, Cottam Community Centre
  • Tuesday 2 November, 3.30pm-8pm, Cottam Primary School
  • Saturday 6 November, 10am-3pm, Cottam Primary School

Deborah McLaughlin, North West director of the HCA, said: "Throughout the development of Cottam Hall, we have kept residents as involved in the process as possible and this has made a real difference. These events are an important opportunity for local people to let us know their views and to really help shape the next phase of work."

Once the masterplan review is underway, the HCA said further community events will be held to provide feedback on progress, as well as providing another opportunity for residents to give input into the project. The HCA added that the masterplan will be submitted for approval in 2011.

The residential site is situated across the road from the derelict brickworks site, which is another area being proposed for redevelopment involving Tesco.
