Contractors on alert for £4m Revoe sports village
Blackpool Council is hoping to appoint a contractor by September to deliver a sports complex next to Bloomfield Road stadium.
Having lodged revised plans for the £4m Revoe Sports Village in April, the council is going out to the contractor market to gauge interest in the opportunity.
The scheme features two 7-a-side 3G pitches, a multi-use games area, and two padel courts on 3.4-acres next to the site of the long-proposed East Stand at Bloomfield Road.
The land had been allocated for housing as phase two of Foxhall Village – however no reserved matters application was ever brought forward and the site has been earmarked since 2021 for alternative community uses.
It is hoped the project could address some of the area’s ingrained issues.
Tender documents for the expression of interest state that the Revoe area “suffers from high levels of deprivation with people suffering from poor physical and mental health.
“The Revoe Community Sports Facilities will bring additional sports provision and regeneration to a deprived area of the town supporting healthier lifestyles and providing access to provision in the inner areas.”
