Contact Company buys Felton office from receivers

Expanding call centre operator the Contact Company has bought a 29,500 sq ft office building in Birkenhead for its second base in the town.

The Queensgate building was acquired with the assistance of a Wirral Council Think Big grant of £250,000 which will be used to pay for fit-out of the building.

The building was developed by Felton before it collapsed in the reception and has been empty for more than two years. The Contact Company acquired it from receivers Parkin S Booth, acting for NatWest.

NatWest Bank provided The Contact Company with a seven-figure funding package to purchase the building.

The Contact Company was established in May 2006 with 15 staff and now employs 120 full-time staff as well as part-time and seasonal workers.

The company's existing base is on Europa Boulevard and its clients include the Jewellery Channel, Eaga, Liverpool FC, The Great Little Trading Company, and Lighter Life.

Asif Hamid, chief executive of the Contact Company, said: "The purchase of Queensgate will enable us to keep growing at pace whilst continuing to provide our clients with the best quality service available. We are installing a state of the art telephony system and will continue to invest in our IT infrastructure and our brilliant staff to make sure this investment leads to further growth."

The Contact Company will move into Queensgate in November.

Knight Frank advised NatWest. Paul Kelly from Knight Frank commented: "Since we were instructed to market the building at the beginning of the year, we have had a steady stream of interest in the premises. Queensgate offers fantastic office accommodation at a very high specification, so it will make a fantastic headquarters for the Contact Company."
