Construction begins on Stockport M&S
Construction company Austin Wilkinson Demolition has started work at the former Marks & Spencer within the Merseyway Shopping Centre on behalf of Glenbrook.
The 80,500 sq ft building was acquired by Glenbrook in October after M&S closed its doors in April 2018.
AWD is on site clearing and preparing the building for the main works programme to be delivered throughout 2020.
AEW Architects and interior design company Incognito are working to finalise the plans to transform the building into an office with leisure and retail use, to be revealed in early 2020.
Chris Lloyd, investment director at Glenbrook, said: “We pledged to make a quick start on site following our acquisition of the building, and AWD are now in place and have commenced the strip out before the end of the year. This is the first step towards the re-positioning and re-energising of the building.”

I can’t shop anywhere on the high street any more. Ann harvey, elvi, evans, all gone. Loved the co-op and the choice on offer. I wish someone would offer more choice, it would make going to stockport worth the effort
