Conlon reveals Waterside development
Plans for a £50m mixed use scheme located off Junction 5 of the M65 motorway in Blackburn have been unveiled.
The development, known as Waterside, is a joint venture between Preston-based Conlon Construction and United Utilities and comprises two freehold sites for up to 430,000 sq ft of accommodation on Haslingden Road in Blackburn, opposite Shadsworth and close to the new Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
The smaller of the sites, at 3.5 acres, will include offices, a hotel, restaurants and a nursery. The larger site, of 11.5 acres, is designated for the development of manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.
Jim Burrow, director at Conlon Construction, said: "Without a doubt, this site offers the best development opportunity in the area, boasting excellent access to the whole of east Lancashire. We are very excited to be able to offer a site of such regional strategic importance for development and are looking forward to realising its potential."
The announcement has been welcomed by economic development company, Regenerate Pennine Lancashire. Steven Szostak, head of investment at the organisation, said: "It's great to see continued investment in this key area of Pennine Lancashire. There is no doubt Haslingden Road continues to be at the top of our enquiry list when firms are looking to expand."
Architectural practice Cassidy & Ashton is designing the scheme. CBRE and Parker & Company are joint agents on the project.
Conlon was advised on its acquisition of the site by the real estate team at Blackburn-based commercial law firm Garricks.
