College picks Turner & Townsend to manage development
Turner & Townsend has been appointed by Tameside College to project manage the delivery of the £20m first phase of its property strategy.
The appointment was made through the Engineering & Professional Services Framework, the consultants' part of the North West Construction Hub.
Turner & Townsend will manage the new building of the Advanced Technologies Centre in the college's existing Beaufort Road Campus and a new Advanced Learning Centre on a council-owned site in Ashton-under-Lyne town centre.
Both new buildings were designed by IBI Taylor Young. The overall project value for phase one is in the region of £20m.
Martin Perryman, director of Turner & Townsend, said the plans represented a significant opportunity to contribute to the regeneration of Tameside.
Waterman Group will provide building services engineering design, and Scott Hughes the structural engineering design.
The first phase is due for completion in September 2015.
