Citybranch wins approvals for £50m South Manchester projects

Cheshire developer Citybranch has gained two planning consents for retail and office developments in South Manchester.

After an earlier application was rejected, the company has eventually gained permission to redevelop The Square shopping centre in Hale Barns.

The Square will be anchored by a 27,950 sq ft food-store, a further 14 retail units and 51 apartments. The later application reduced the size of the food-store by 25%.

Citybranch expects to be on site at The Square within 12-18 months. Agents on the scheme are Cheetham & Mortimer.

The second consent covers Stirling Green, a 47,500 sq ft office scheme in Altrincham town centre with retail and leisure on the ground floor.

According to Citybranch, the development will be "uncompromisingly urban in feel and scale", and uses high quality materials in conjunction with a contemporary design, the aim being to create a new 'landmark' for the town. There will be a 43-space basement car park, break-out terraces at a number of levels and a green-space roof garden for the occupants of the building to enjoy.

P3 Property Consultants and GVA Grimley are letting agents on Stirling Green.
