Cheshire golf academy and driving range tipped for approval
PGA professional Rob Ashbrook is behind the plans for the 18-acre site off Bradeley Green Lane, next to the A49 in the village of Wirswall, near the border with Shropshire.
Ashbrook Golf Zone’s proposal will be decided by Cheshire East Council’s strategic planning board, which meets next Wednesday, April 24.
If approved, agricultural land in open countryside would house 16 bays, short game and putting game practice areas, along with an office, car park, and floodlights.
The creation of a passing bay along Bradeley Green Lane as part of the development will provide access to the site.
An officer report to the planning board recommends approval as the proposal has been demonstrated to be an essential facility for outdoor recreation, which in turn complies with the majority of relevant policies in the development plan.
The report adds there has been found to be a high demand for golf courses within Cheshire East and nationally, but there are a lack of driving range facilities. The report says there are just two within a half hour drive from the site, one of which is for private members only.
RPS Design Group, Eyebright Ecology, Woodsyde Developments, Old Oak Tree Care, and Bell Lighting are on the project team.
